I love the rustic distressed looking Halloween signs I have seen – but NOT the prices! I knew I could make my own for less than half the price. So I did! Halloween Wooden Shelf Sitters - Tutorial

Here is what you need:

  • (1) 2×4 – cut into 12 inch pieces
  • Orange spray paint
  • Stain
  • Ball point pen
  • Black paint marker – Fine Tip
  • Printed Words
  • Sand paper

Halloween Wooden Shelf Sitters - Tutorial Halloween Wooden Shelf Sitters - Tutorial Spray paint the boards and let them dry. Halloween Wooden Shelf Sitters - Tutorial When the paint is dry use sand paper to distress your boards and then apply stain to add to the distressed look. Halloween Wooden Signs - Tutorial Print out the words/lettering you want onto a piece of paper in landscape. I used Microsoft Word – no need to have some crazy program for this. Halloween Wooden Signs - Tutorial Put the paper over the board and use a ball point pen to trace over the letters. Remove and you will see a light indentation from the pen. Halloween Wooden Signs - Tutorial Now use a paint marker to trace over the indentations and fill in the letters. Halloween Wooden Signs - Tutorial Halloween Wooden Signs - Tutorial Ta-Da! These boards are perfect and this technique can be used for so many different types of signs. While writing this post I was thinking how I want to make a longer sign for my craft room area that says ‘Sorry about the mess but I craft here’! To see more Halloween posts go HERE Enjoy, image
