I love the rustic distressed looking Halloween signs I have seen – but NOT the prices! I knew I could make my own for less than half the price. So I did!
- (1) 2×4 – cut into 12 inch pieces
- Orange spray paint
- Stain
- Ball point pen
- Black paint marker – Fine Tip
- Printed Words
- Sand paper
Spray paint the boards and let them dry. When the paint is dry use sand paper to distress your boards and then apply stain to add to the distressed look. Print out the words/lettering you want onto a piece of paper in landscape. I used Microsoft Word – no need to have some crazy program for this. Put the paper over the board and use a ball point pen to trace over the letters. Remove and you will see a light indentation from the pen. Now use a paint marker to trace over the indentations and fill in the letters. Ta-Da! These boards are perfect and this technique can be used for so many different types of signs. While writing this post I was thinking how I want to make a longer sign for my craft room area that says ‘Sorry about the mess but I craft here’! To see more Halloween posts go HERE Enjoy,
