Have you ever wondered how to create that speckled egg look you see on candies and décor around Easter? My grandma used to paint ceramics as I was growing up and one day while she was watching me after school she let me paint my own ceramic Easter bunny and then add speckles to him. As I was making a list of things that I wanted to use in this years Easter décor I made a list which included burlap, pastels, moss and speckled eggs. I am going to refer back to this technique quite a bit in the next few weeks so I thought it needed its own post! Speckled Egg Painting Technique #easter #eggs Supplies Needed:

  • Acrylic Paint
  • Old Toothbrush
  • Popsicle Stick
  • Newspaper or something to protect your work area from the splatters

Speckled Egg Painting Technique #easter #eggs Speckled Egg Painting Technique #easter #eggs Directions: I’m going to show you the technique using this cute 2x2x2 inch kraft box I got from Le Box Boutique. First you dip your toothbrush in the paint and then you position it at an angle so the head of the toothbrush is facing down towards the object you are trying to paint. Run the popsicle stick across the paint filled bristles towards yourself (front to back). If you run the popsicle stick AWAY from yourself you will then be painting yourself instead of the intended object. Even though I have done this quite often I still make sure to wear clothes that I don’t care much about just to be on the safe side. It couldn’t be much easier?! Love the tip about the speckles. I do use them a lot in my art projects as well as craft projects. I am hoping that is a green cardboard berry box in the photo. I love these boxes and want to use some for Easter projects. I will return. (Remember Easter is early this year!)
