Painted Burlap Valentine’s Day Art

craft_gawker3 I fell head over heels in love with Emily from 52 Mantels and her Valentine Mantel. I saw it and instantly knew it was JUST.MY.STYLE! This painted burlap canvas was inspired by Emily – Thanks girl! This project couldn’t be much easier and of course it is quite affordable. Here is what you need to make one:

  • Vinyl Cutter – I used my cricut
  • Vinyl in any color
  • A canvas
  • Painters tape (optional)
  • Burlap
  • Staple gun
  • Spray paint

I cut a piece of vinyl to be the same size as the canvas I had purchased. I put it into my cricut and cut out the word ‘love’ (using a heart instead of an ‘O’). Then I moved the blade down to the bottom corner and cut out a small little heart. IMG_6996 IMG_7000 After the canvas was covered I peeled off the backing to the vinyl and applied it over the canvas. (Don’t mind my chipping nail polish or spray painted finger!) IMG_7002 Then to protect the sides of the canvas/burlap I used painters tape along the edges. Remember that little heart I cut out? I used it inside the big heart to make a heart in a heart. I also used a box for spray painting so the mess and spray is contained (saw it on pinterest and it works!!) Then I sprayed away.
