Today is the last day of school before winter break starts and we are celebrating! I picked up the new movie Minions and the ingredients for Minion Punch. This morning was one of those mornings when I try to wake the boys up for school and they pop up without any prodding, poking, crying or whining involved. They know today is basically a party day at school and it is a school-wide pajama day. While the boys ate their breakfast they talked excitedly about having two weeks off of school. The excitement was contagious and I knew a fun after school surprise would keep the fun going.
I had a lot of last minute Christmas errands to run this morning since after today the kids will be home 24/7 until Christmas. I stopped for a few stocking stuffers and picked up the Minions movie, a few craft supplies and the ingredients for minion punch which turned out amazing. The punch is a mixture of juices and lemonade with ginger ale to perfectly balance the sweetness.

Yeah the recipe is that easy! Here are a few notes though — be sure to stir the punch before serving and possibly a few times throughout. Also you do not actually make the lemonade and orange juice according to the can directions. I shared a punch recipe once and someone commented saying it seemed very diluted. (They had actually made the lemonade by adding water and THEN adding the other ingredients – don’t be that person!)
Minion punch isn’t as festive without minion cups to drink from.
I used small mason jars and hot glued strips of black felt around them. I glued eyes to the felt and stuck black stirring straws which reminded me of little minion hair sprouts. When we are done I will just take the felt off and the jars can be used again for something else.
My kids think all of the minions are so funny. Even I think they are comical with their noises, goggles and funny antics. Illumination Entertainment’s Minions movie was the inspiration for today’s festivities. I can’t wait to see what mischief the minions have up their sleeves when we watch the movie this afternoon.
If you have any minion lovers I think it would make for the perfect birthday party theme! Pick up Minions© 2015 Universal Studios, All rights reserved make some Minion punch and you are halfway to the perfect party.
