I have a major thing for burlap and another major thing for spray paint. When I was brainstorming my new entryway and the patriotic theme I wanted to go with for summer – I thought of a USA Burlap canvas and knew it would incorporate both. Right now it is hanging on my new photo wall right inside the entryway.
I took the same burlap covered canvas I used in my Spring Entryway and took off the vinyl lettering and trim.
USA Burlap Canvas Instructions
I gathered up the (now) plain burlap canvas, a scrap of muslin fabric, red spray paint, adhesive vinyl, and my Cricut.
Then I used my Cricut to cut adhesive vinyl letters U, S and A. I gently used my fingers to apply the vinyl onto a piece of muslin.
The vinyl stuck onto the fabric just well enough that it didn’t let the spray paint onto the covered parts.
After the spray paint dried I removed the vinyl to reveal the unpainted muslin underneath. I took a few dabs hot glue and attached the piece of muslin to the burlap canvas. When summer is over I will just remove the muslin and do something for fall!
Now the USA burlap canvas is the focal point after walking in the front door. We are ready for all of the Patriotic holidays.
