In the Spring we start our weekly trips to the beach or to my parent’s pool and the day usually ends with friends, family and food. Friday afternoon we loaded up the car with our bathing suits, towels and food to swim and grill over at my parents house. Since it was a Friday and most everyone had been at work or school all day nobody felt like a big gourmet spread – we broke out the Tyson Grillin’ Wings and a Hawaiian Wing Sauce I had premade earlier in the day. My mom made a couple easy sides and it was a quick but delicious meal!
Earlier in the week my dad and I had made a trip to Sam’s Club where I stocked up on snacks for the house and I also grabbed a bag of Tyson Grillin’ Wings. They were perfect because you don’t have to wait for them to thaw but rather pull them straight from the freezer and throw them right on a heated grill. In my mind that is pure genius because I don’t know how many times we have felt like eating wings at five o’clock at night but realize we don’t have any pulled out of the freezer! They were the perfect solution for our Friday night dinner. Once the wings came off the grill I tossed them in a delicious Hawaiian Wing Sauce I adapted from my regular hot wing sauce recipe and it was a total hit! Besides for being an easy dinner idea they would also make an easy party food or chicken snack!Hawaiian Wing Sauce
- (1) 12 ounce bottle of Heinz Chile Sauce
- 1 cup of water
- 1/2 cup of Teriyaki sauce
- 1 tablespoon of Chile Powder
- ½ teaspoon of Cumin
- 2 tablespoons of Brown Sugar
- ½ teaspoon of Lemon Juice
- 1 tablespoon of Vinegar
- 2 tablespoons of minced garlic
- 4 ounces crushed pineapple (I used canned but you could also use fresh)
- 1 Jalapeño – seeds removed and very finely diced
Directions
-
Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil stirring often. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 20-30 minutes. Taste and adjust as needed.
-
Toss wings in sauce immediately or store sauce in the refrigerator until you are ready to use. (I suggest using within 3-4 days if you choose to make the sauce ahead.)
