St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner, and if you’re anything like me, you’re already thinking of ways to be pinch-proof. It’s the perfect time to bring a little magic into the classroom with treats that are easy, affordable, and guaranteed to make the kids smile. Today, I’m sharing a fun idea for St. Patrick’s Day classroom treats using Skittles and some adorable printable designs. Let’s turn a simple candy into a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!
Why Skittles?
Skittles are the MVP of this project for a few reasons:
- Rainbow Colors: With red, orange, yellow, green, and purple, they scream “taste the rainbow”—perfect for a St. Patrick’s Day theme.
- Kid-Friendly: They’re nut-free, making them a safe choice for most classrooms (always double-check allergies, though!).
- Budget-Friendly: A big bag goes a long way, especially for a class full of eager little leprechauns.

St. Patrick’s Day Treats
What You’ll Need:
- Skittles: Grab a big bag (or multiple bags if you’ve got a big class).
- Small Cello Bags: Clear treat bags ( I bought the cello lip and tape bags)
- Printable Designs: The Letter Vee has some of the cutest ones!
- Ribbon or Twine: Optional, for tying bags or attaching tags.
- Scissors, Tape & Hole Punch: For cutting out and securing your printables.

We separated the Skittles by color and created a rainbow inside the tiny bags. You can drop them in haphazardly or the way my daughter and I did for the St. Patrick’s Day treats.

These Skittles treats are a win-win. Kids get a colorful, tasty reward that feels festive without overloading them with sugar (a small portion goes a long way!). Parents will appreciate the thoughtfulness and simplicity—no messy cupcakes or complicated recipes here. Plus, the printable tags add a personal touch that makes it feel like more than just candy.
So, this St. Patrick’s Day, skip the stress and embrace the rainbow. With Skittles and a few printable designs, you’ve got a classroom treat that’s as lucky as a four-leaf clover. Have fun crafting, and may the luck o’ the Irish be with you!
