As you may or may not know I am pregnant with baby numero four. In true pregnant woman fashion I got a real craving for potato chips and ranch dip the other day. I had already made my trip with all three kids to the store to get something for dinner earlier in the day and we were back at home when I decided the craving couldn’t be ignored. I loaded the kids into the car and drove up to the mom and pop grocery store about a mile from our house. It is a five isled store that specializes in meat so special ingredients are hard to find. I just grabbed a sour cream and two different potato chips. When I got back home I knew I had a french onion dip and a ranch dressing packet in the pantry. Remembering back to a trip we made to Ted’s Montana Grill and their ranch dip I pulled some scallions from the ‘frigerator. I mixed everything together, let the flavors meld for as long as I could bare (okay I won’t lie – I was sneaking from the first second) but if I had been more patient I would have put the mixture into the refrigerator to let the flavors meld before diving in! When my husband got home it commented on how good the dip was and I instantly knew it was a simple, easy and perfect appetizer for a Big Game (the big game that rhymes with pooper role)! Do you see this stuff? The perfect pairing with wavy greasy potato chips or baked crunchy ones too!
Save me… Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon finely cut chives
- 1/2 packet of french onion soup mix (powdered kind in the soup isle)
- 1/2 packet of ranch dressing mix (powdered kind in the salad dressing isle)
- 16oz container of sour cream
- chips for dipping
Mix the chives, french onion soup mix, ranch mix and sour cream together. Place in the refrigerator for one hour (or longer… or less if you can’t wait!) for the flavors to meld together. Then serve! The whole bowl only has seconds left before I devour it! Oh gosh… let the pregnancy cravings begin. Can someone pass the jar of pickles? What will you be serving at your dooper hole party?
