Yesterday we celebrated my middle child, Mason’s, fourth birthday. We had a Wreck it Ralph party complete with an ice cream float stand. Who can resist Edy’s ice cream, A&W root beer and Sunkist on a hot summer day? All of the games and decorations at the party were part of one of the arcade games featured in the movie. For the ice cream float stand we named it ‘Tapper’ just like the arcade game where Ralph goes in search of a gold medal. My dad helped me build the float stand and ice-cream floats proved to be the perfect sweet treat after a 90+ degree day!
The boys put on their aprons and served up the perfect combination of Edy’s Grand vanilla ice-cream, A&W root beer and Sunkist. We topped the floats with sprinkles, whip cream, cherries, root beer barrel candies and gummy orange slices. The floats were a bigger hit than the cake and were enjoyed by just as many of the adults as kids!
To make things easier on myself I pre-scooped the ice cream into pint size mason jars the night before. Then right before we were ready to serve the floats I pulled them out of the freezer. This made it easy for everyone to open the lid and make their own float and I didn’t miss out on any of the party!
Most of the kids choose to make an orange creamsicle with Sunkist and to be honest I had never had one before last night! Growing up my mom would always make root beer floats with A&W and to this day it is the only root beer I will drink or make floats with! When I was pregnant with Mason I would constantly crave and drink A&W so it was quite fitting that we served it as his party.
The ice cream float stand was one of my favorite parts of the party. Ice cream floats are the perfect sweet treat for any summer celebration. I am thinking about setting it back up on the Fourth of July so the kids can create floats in the driveway before we head off to watch fireworks. Stay tuned because I will be sharing the rest of the party pictures next week! I’m taking this week off from blogging to spend time with my family and celebrate birthdays. Mason turns four tomorrow and I turn the big 2-6 next Sunday.
I purchased everything for the float stand at Walmart and you can see my shopping trip HERE or find other Nestle items that Walmart carries HERE. Right now you can also use THIS COUPON to get $1 off when you buy two Edy’s products.
Enjoy,
