Grandma Pearl’s Macaroni

My grandma, Pearl, makes some of the best macaroni. When I moved out on my own I asked for the recipe and it was the perfect recipe for a starter cook. I say starter cook, because my cooking skills weren’t very good back then and this recipe was simple. It only has a few ingredients and it is super affordable. This recipe also comes along with many memories. It reminds of when I was a little girl and we used to go to Lake Mills, WI for the weekends. Those sure were the days! My grandma, grandpa, parents, brother, sister, aunt, uncle and cousins used to cram into one small room to enjoy a meal together. When the meal was finished all the ladies would wash and dry dishes together before we all ate dessert. What I would do to sit at that table just one more time! IMG_7823 You will need:

  • 1 pound of pasta (we use elbow macaroni or bow ties)
  • (2) 15oz. can of tomato sauce
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 lb. of deli sliced colby cheese

Tonight we had both types of noodles on hand. After taking a family poll we picked bow tie pasta. IMG_7830 Boil the pasta as directed on the box. Then drain and place in a casserole dish. While the pasta is coming to a boil turn oven on to 350 degrees. IMG_7847 Then pour tomato sauce over the noodles. IMG_7838 IMG_7837 IMG_7849 Then put shredded cheese in over the noodles and gently stir the ingredients together. IMG_7851 IMG_7852 Then put colby cheese over the top and place in the oven for 20-30 minutes until the colby cheese is melted and bubbly. IMG_7854 IMG_7866 Then EAT! IMG_7864 Enjoy, image
