Last month I put pictures of my craft closet on Instagram. The closet had been taken over by the crazy holiday rush in the Poofy Cheeks Shop and I had been shoving random supplies into it and closing the doors to hide the mess. I posted pictures of the before and after organization but thought it might be helpful to others if I shared some of the ways I keep supplies organized. Besides for the months of November and December when I barely have time to take a shower or feed myself because of how busy my little online shop is, this closet stays pretty organized!
Today I am over at Craft Storage Ideas sharing how I organize my craft room so I thought today would also be the perfect opportunity to reveal my craft CLOSET!
Let me start off by telling you that my craft closet is actually our entryway closet but we live in Florida and nobody has coats or boots to store inside of it. When we first moved into this house I put a few random things in it and closed the doors to hide the eyesore. You can see the picture below on the right.
As I finished my craft room (which is actually our formal dining room) I gradually started adding more and more things to the closet because I didn’t want them to be visible to everyone and anyone who came over to our house. The mess grew and grew until it was out of control. When it got to the point where I couldn’t find anything I was looking for I took matters into my own hands and cleared out all the other crap in the closet and organized it to be JUST for craft supplies.
The thing that helps me the most with keeping my items organized is a shelf from Target that I turned on its side. Not only does it provide separate little cubby spaces, it also provides a flat surface for me to keep supplies on top of like a countertop. (The shelf was around $30 on sale) Three of the cubbies have kraft photo boxes I purchased at Michael’s during one of their big sales. (I think I got them 6 for $10) To add a little character I used a Heidi Swapp stencil to add a honeycomb pattern to the lids. I store my twine, paper straws, photos and project life supplies inside the boxes. The other cubbies hold other random supplies and craft books I have acquired.
As for my little supplies I had my dad build ledge shelves from the Anna White instructions.
