You probably remember when I crammed the blog with Disney craft tutorials before our May Disney World vacation. Then I came home to a crazy busy shop, the craziness that comes with the end of the school year, a girls weekend with my mom and I just realized I never even took the time to recap the trip! Here it is mid June and the first full week of Summer vacation for my two oldest boys. I’m still strapped for time as I try to balance everything. (I forgot what it was like to have to entertain all four kids of mine ALL day long.) I have been scouring the internet for summer activities in our area and just yesterday we stopped into our local library and signed Mason and Wyatt up for their summer reading program.
There are so many books to choose from! Disney Story Central gives families the freedom to choose the reading experience that suits them best, whether through an annual subscription service or a-la-carte options, using Disney Book Tokens. We went with the a-la-carte option so the boys could pick books they enjoy. Disney Story Central is designed to encourage kids to develop a lifetime love of reading.
Since the summer reading program at the library encourages the kids to read four days a week to receive a ‘library buck’ they can read their books via the Disney Story Central app and I can sign off on their reading logs. The library program also coincides with the Disney Story Central’s ‘Mid-Summer Light Reads’ Campaign will launches today and runs through August 13th. The campaign will promote weekly summer reading themes featuring selected Disney titles and the kids can earn badges and unlock FREE Books weekly via the Disney Story Central app! If participating in these programs and picking their favorite Disney story books doesn’t encourage them to enjoy reading I really don’t know what will. My goal is to make reading fun instead of a chore so it is something they truly WANT to do.
How do you encourage your kids to read during the summer months?
