Disney Pressed Coin Holder Tip

Hey there Disney friends! The days are flying by and there are only 11 days on the countdown until we go to Disney World!

We are doing the Dining Plan which includes one quick-service meal, one snack and one table-service meal per person per day. I spent hours finding out each park’s hours and then planning our fastpass rides and our table-service meals. You definitely want to make sure you book your dining reservations in advance or you will be stuck with the leftovers. Since we have stayed at Disney World and done the dining plan a few times before we have a couple favorite spots we knew we wanted to book. I have us booked for a breakfast at ‘Ohana because we love the family style all you can eat meal (can you say Mickey waffles and bacon!?) and it is a character meal so the kids will get to see Mickey, Pluto, Lilo and Stitch. I was sure to avoid any typical buffet meals because with four kids we would be eating in shifts and not enjoying meals together. One of our other favorites is Captain’s Grille. We have eaten there a handful of times and always leave impressed with the food and service. The other three table-service restaurants I have booked are Biergarten (German restaurant in Epcot we have been wanting to eat at forever), Akershus Royal Banquet Hall (character dining with Princesses in Epcot) and Be Our Guest (the new French restaurant in the Fantasyland area at Magic Kingdom). I can’t wait to share pictures and our dining experiences when we return! Anyone else planning a Disney World trip?

Last week when I asked my sister-in-law to come over and share some of her Disney ideas she showed me how to make pressed coin holders for the kids. They are going to be so handy for our trip. Our two oldest boys have a collection of pressed coins from previous Disney trips and when we went for an afternoon a few weeks ago they excitedly asked to press more at a few of the machines. Neither Mike nor I had any cash or coins on us so we had to tell them no. The coin holders are going to keep the quarters and pennies in order so when we come to a machine we can add some new coins to their collections.

Supplies Needed:

  • Mini M&M Holder
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Glue Stick
  • Scrapbook Paper
  • Coins

Step 1: Remove the candy from the plastic tube and gently take the label off of the tube.

Step 2: Measure the label you removed and use that to cut the correct size of scrapbook paper to wrap around the tube.

Step 3: Use a glue stick to glue the scrapbook paper around the plastic tube and then fill with coins.

**April mentioned layering the coins in 2 quarters and one penny at a time so when you stop to press a coin the kids aren’t pouring all of their coins out to get to the right thing. I can imagine my boys doing this and dropping every coin in the tube all over the ground!

The coin holders turned out really cute and they are going to easily fit in the pocket of our diaper bag. I might just make myself one and use the pressed coins to make a charm bracelet – have you seen those!? I have been wanting to make myself one.

Enjoy,
