Shared Boys Bedroom: Avengers Super Hero Theme

My two oldest boys are 6 1/2 and almost 5. In April we decided to take their bedroom from a babyish Alphabet theme with an ugly paint color I couldn’t stand to look at any longer to a fresh and bright Avenger Super Hero theme. I hate to admit this but Mason had grown out of his toddler bed and the boys broke the twin bed frame so both of them had been sharing a twin mattress on the floor for quite a few months. Like most of my projects once I get them in my mind I start and finish them in record breaking time. The fact that they were sharing the twin mattress on the floor also put a pep in my step! The bedroom redo was an idea both my husband and I shared but he worked the weekend we came up with it. On that Friday night after he headed in to work night shift I stopped into Lowe’s and bought the paint, came home and cleared out the room, put the kids to bed and stayed up until 3am finishing the paint job. Luckily the Valspar primer+paint really does a great job and I only had to do one coat over the previously ugly brownish/green. Avengers Super Hero Bedroom - Shared Boys Bedroom That same weekend we found some Avengers wall plaques at Ross for $10 a piece, curtains, curtain rod and a guy that works with my mother-in-law selling a futon bunk bed for $100! We put the twin mattress we had on the top bunk and ordered Avenger Super Hero sheet sets from Bed Bath & Beyond. We also got the best bed bug mattress encasement to protect their beds. I painted over the previous A-B-C salvaged wood signs to hang above the bunks and found a vinyl peel and stick Captain America poster at Hobby Lobby. The price breakdown for the entire room put us at less than $275 which I was pleased with!

  • Bunk Bed w/futon mattress – $100
  • Avenger Wall Plaques (2) – $20 – from Ross
  • Curtains – $15 – from Ross
  • Curtain Rod – $10 – from Ross
  • Blue Metal Hamper – $15 – Target
  • Captain America Vinyl Poster – $12 – Hobby Lobby
  • Valspar Paint+Primer – $30 – Lowe’s
  • Full and Twin Sheet Sets – $70 – Bed Bath & Beyond
  • Salvaged Wood Avenger Art – DIY

Even Delilah loves playing with the magnet board and pulling down books. My next favorite thing are the awesome sheet sets. We looked at tons of different sets before we found these and once we saw them my husband and I both knew they were the ones! Now for the real question – would you like to see what the room looked like with the previous paint color? This picture was taken before we had hung the book shelves but you will get the idea. Oh what a new coat of paint can do for a space! Our room is actually painted in this gawd-awful color too but I have to muster up a bit more motivation before I decide to repaint it. Avengers Super Hero Bedroom - Shared Boys Bedroom Before Have you taken on any big projects or room redos lately? Did you catch the rustic woodland nursery nook I did this past weekend for our newest little guy?
