Sugared Pe-cans.. or is it Pe-cons

Pe-cans or pe-cons? How do you say it? My husband’s family is from Georgia and they say pe-can. He is constantly reminding me that I should say it that way too. I grew up saying pe-cons and the habit is hard to break! I made my first batch of sugared pecans on Thanksgiving and they were gone before we got to my parents house for dinner! My husband keeps telling me to make more, so I decided to make a large batch to give to family as part of their Christmas gifts. Sugared Pecan Recipe by Poofy Cheeks When I was looking for a recipe I couldn’t find one I really liked so I combined a few and made up my own recipe.

  • 1 pound pecan halves
  • 1/2 cup of white sugar
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 1 egg white
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • dash of nutmeg
  • parchment paper

Mix the egg white and vanilla in a medium bowl. Add pecans and toss until coated. In another bowl or airtight container mix sugars, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Now pour pecans into the sugar mixture and toss or shake to coat. Place a piece of parchment paper on a cookie sheet and then spread the pecans evenly across the pan.  Sugared Pecan Recipe by Poofy Cheeks Bake at 250 degrees for one hour removing pan every 15 minutes to stir. If you can wait for the pecans to cool go right ahead, but most of ours were eaten before they were able to cool! Your house will smell divine.
